Confession time: I've been super lazy about blogging lately. For those of you who don't know, I started a job at a restaurant two weeks ago, and the rapid change from watching movies all day to being on my feet for seven and a half hours a day has been rough. When I get home in the afternoon, I basically collapse on the couch and surrender to two hours of Law and Order reruns. As far as routines go, this one really isn't bad at all; however, the change in schedule has left me with very little motivation to blog during the week.

In fact, I haven't been cooking as much lately either. One of my favorite perks of this job is that I get to eat from both the breakfast and lunch buffet during my shift. This means I don't need to cook as often during the week, since Bryan is the only one eating leftovers. As much as I love to cook, I'm happy to have a break for a little while, and we've saved a lot of money on our grocery bills!

So I'm making up for lost time by engaging in a post-athon this afternoon. I forgot to post a side dish last Saturday, so this will be the first of two I post today.

This Side Dish Saturday (er, Sunday) recipe comes from Smitten Kitchen, my very favorite food blog. Although I haven't tried the recipe myself, I can only imagine it's delicious. (All of Deb's recipes I've tried have been fabulous.) In this post, she roasted thick sweet potato chunks until they were nearly charred and then topped them with "a little pile of Thanksgiving with small diced celery, shallots, dried cranberries, toasted pecans, parsley, and crumbled goat cheese." As always, her photos are absolutely stunning. The recipe looks pretty easy, too! Perhaps I'll try it next weekend if I have some time. I'll be sure to post the results if I do!
